From the Federacion Comercializadora de Café Especial de Guatemala in Quiché comes this Caturra, Bourbon, Catuai varietal. Small individual producer farm, sun dried on raised beds. FECCEG began in 2006 as a non-profit organization supporting smallholder farmers gain market access. Since then, the organization has grown into a federation of 15 individual organizations and associations composed of 1500 farmers producing coffee, cocoa and honey across all western Guatemala. This lot was produced by FECCEG’s chapter in the Quiche department bordering Mexico, one of Guatemala’s most remote and inaccessible regions. Associated farmers in Quiche have implemented a system of bio-factories to produce their own organic fertilizers and pesticides, renewed their farms with young trees and diversified their crops to better weather price volatility in coffee. FECCEG provides additional support in the form of technical agricultural assistance, community libraries for children and microloans for new projects and products.
Light roasted, medium bodied, ripe berry, floral. Very versatile, this coffee can be used for drip, pourover, cold brew, or single origin espresso.
