Peru La Lima Huabal
Gonzalo Guevara Martinez has dedicated his whole life to the cultivation and improvement of his farm, located in high in the mountains of Huabal, Cajamarca. Although his family currently lives in the city of Jaén, making it easier for his children to attend school, Gonzalo travels to his small farm, La Lima, three times a week during the harvest season to oversee the work of the pickers he employees. He takes the time to monitor the state of the farm to make sure that all harvest and post-harvest work is done to the optimal standards. His efforts have paid off as this small 100% Caturra microlot shows. In the farm there are several lime trees, which give the farm its name ‘La Lima’. Gonzalo thinks, as well, that his coffee has some of those same citric features as the fruit trees, which makes the name all the more fitting. He considers his coffee exceptional and has plans in the near future to purchase more land so that he can establish plots of Yellow Caturra and Bourbon. Furthermore, he hopes to be able to re-establish his organic certification as soon as possible, as his farming methods continue to be 100% organic. He only de-certified when he left his old organization.
